FAQ

What can I expect in a session with you?

Sessions are spacious, collaborative, and attuned to your unique experience. We might talk, pause for reflection, explore body sensations or imagery, or notice how different parts of you are showing up. Clients describe my style as calm, caring, and deeply present. I’ll hold space with compassion — and also gently challenge you when needed — to support meaningful growth and integration.

What kinds of clients do you work with?

I work with adults navigating transitions, trauma, addiction recovery (or loving someone who struggles), relationship challenges, burnout, existential questioning, and a desire for deeper self-understanding. Many of my clients identify as sensitive, creative, or introspective and are seeking therapy that is both grounded and transformative.

Do you offer virtual or in-person therapy?

I offer virtual therapy (via a secure video platform). I do not offer in person therapy sessions at this time.

Why private pay?

Insurance often comes with barriers — limited session times, required diagnosis, delayed approvals, and restrictions on how therapy can unfold. Choosing private pay allows me to remove those obstacles and create a space that is uninterrupted, deeply attuned, and fully responsive to your unique journey. See rates page for more details.

How do I access sliding scale pricing?

I hold a limited number of sliding scale spots, prioritized for those with marginalized identities or financial need. If cost is a barrier, feel free to reach out and we can explore options or referrals together.

Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for therapy?

Yes — therapy is often an eligible expense. You can use your HSA or FSA debit card, or submit receipts for reimbursement depending on your provider’s rules.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is a special receipt I can provide that you submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. It includes your diagnosis and billing codes. If you’d like to use your insurance benefits, I recommend checking with your provider to see whether they offer reimbursement for sessions with a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).

Do you offer a free initial consultation?

Yes — I offer a free 15-minute consultation video call. I know how much care and energy goes into finding the right therapist, and I want to honor that process. This brief call gives us a chance to connect, talk through what’s bringing you in, and see if working together feels like a good fit. While the consultation can offer a sense of my approach, an initial full session is often the best way to truly experience the work and get a feel for our connection.

How do I get started?

If you're interested in working together, please fill out the contact form on my website or email me at rdemolinacounseling@gmail.com with your name, contact info, and a brief description of what you're seeking support for. I’ll follow up with next steps. Expect a response within 1-2 business days unless otherwise noted via auto reply.
