FAQ
What can I expect in a session?
Sessions are spacious, collaborative, and attuned to your unique experience. You may talk, pause for reflection, explore body sensations or imagery, or notice how different parts of you are showing up. Clients describe Rachel’s style as calm, caring, and deeply present. She holds space with compassion and also gently challenges you when needed.
What kinds of clients does Rachel work with?
Adults navigating transitions, trauma, addiction recovery, relationship challenges, burnout, existential questioning, and a desire for deeper self-understanding. Many of Rachel’s clients identify as sensitive, creative, or introspective and are seeking therapy that is grounding and depth oriented.
Why private pay?
Insurance often comes with barriers including limited session times, required diagnosis, delayed approvals, and restrictions on how therapy can unfold. Choosing private pay removes those obstacles and creates a space that is uninterrupted and fully responsive to your unique needs. See rates page for more details.
How do I access sliding scale pricing?
A limited number of sliding scale spots are held for those with financial need. If cost is a barrier, feel free to reach out in order to explore options or referrals.
Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for therapy?
Yes, therapy is often an eligible expense. You can use your HSA or FSA debit card, or submit receipts for reimbursement depending on your provider’s rules.
What is a superbill?
A superbill is a receipt that you submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. It includes your diagnosis and billing codes. If you’d like to use your insurance benefits, check with your insurance provider to see whether they offer reimbursement for sessions with a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
Can I do a free initial consultation?
A free 15-minute consultation video call is an option. This brief call provides a chance to connect and see if working together feels like a good fit. While the consultation can offer a sense of Rachel’s approach, an initial full session is often the best way to truly experience the work and get a feel for your connection.
